Online Platform For Indie Musicians Aims To Democratise The Industry

“The indie music industry in India has its own caste bias, metaphorically speaking. That is to say, the movers and shakers of a big city are far more likely to get big-ticket gigs than those who haven’t played the market adequately. This has led to a lack of democracy within the scene, despite the Internet having levelled the playing field to some degree. Instrupad – a “genre- and band-agnostic play space for musicians” – seeks to change that. “
We had the opportunity to pitch the ‘Instrupad’ concept to a panel of a highly distinguished jury for the Silicon Valley based global StartupStorm B-Plan competition, as a wildcard entry – to finish second runners up – amongst the diverseness of all the startups in their respective fields.
It was quite an experience to know of the pathbreaking ideas in the field of genomics, agriculture, waste management and heartening to have Instrupad, a musician/instrumentalist centred startup to be validated and awarded for our vision and direction for the developing Indian and South-East Asian markets . More than anything else, this gives us an affirmation to go ahead and walk further in this journey, which has just about began.
